Komatsu Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 60 001 590 041) ("Komatsu", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This notice describes how the Komatsu IT Service Desk handles personal information collected through this portal.
1. Information we collect
When you interact with the IT Service Desk we may collect: your name, business email, phone number, role and business unit, the location or site you work at, and the contents of any ticket or correspondence you raise. We also collect technical information automatically when you visit this portal, including your IP address, device and browser details, and pages viewed.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to provide IT support, manage and resolve service requests, maintain records of resolved tickets for quality assurance and audit, monitor and improve our IT services, and meet our internal governance and external regulatory obligations.
3. Who we share information with
Tickets and the personal information they contain are accessible to authorised members of the Komatsu Australia IT and Information Security functions, and to third-party service providers acting on our behalf (for example, vendors providing supported software, where troubleshooting requires their involvement). We do not sell personal information.
4. Cross-border disclosures
As part of the global Komatsu Group, your personal information may be disclosed to affiliated Komatsu entities in Japan, the United States, and other countries, where doing so is necessary to provide IT services. We take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle personal information consistently with Australian privacy law.
5. Storage and security
Personal information collected through this portal is stored in systems hosted in Microsoft Azure within Australian regions, with copies retained in accordance with Komatsu Australia's information management policies. We apply technical, physical, and administrative safeguards consistent with industry good practice.
6. Your rights
You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you in connection with your interactions with the IT Service Desk by emailing privacy@komatsu-it.com.
7. Complaints
If you believe we have handled your personal information improperly, please raise it with the Privacy Officer at the email above. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
